KYONOOTO means "Sounds of Kyoto". These inks are made in Kyoto, Japan. The writing inks, which reproduce traditional Japanese colors that have been used since the Heian period with a modern interpretation of techniques, feature gradations of light and dark shades that utilize the bleeding characteristics of dyes.
Kyo No Oto inks are dye-based. Dyes are the most common type of colorant used in inks. They're generally cheaper than pigments, have many colors available, and produce bright hues. They feature traditional Japanese colors inspired by the city's unique scenery and culture.
Dye-based inks are often less opaque than pigment-based inks. Dye-based fountain pen inks are unlikely to clog pens.
Because dye ink dissolves in water, you can use it to write with the ink and then use a water brush to blur or thin the color, allowing you to create a variety of different expressions.
